Urgghh. This is getting weirder and weirder.

Just17 your logic is that I my comments can be dismissed (or at least challenged)

Yes I suggested they could be challenged.

Quote
because you say I have made an assumption that there is a single motivating factor and none other.

Which you did when making your argument against what you termed some form of conspiracy.

I wonder who you think the conspirators are?

Quote
But you are not suggesting there is any other motivating factor so how are you challenging my argument?

I did not challenge your argument.
Quite the opposite.

Quote
All you have outlined is that the structure of my argument rests on an assumption?

Correct, that is all I did .....  which contradicts what you posted above.

Quote
Would it be more valid if it rested on multiple assumptions? How many other motivating factors would I need to rule out to make it 'valid' in your eyes? I don't really get what you are driving at?
Seems more like you are trying to get a rise out of me than actually suggesting an alternative understanding???? I am happy to be shown I am wrong, but at the moment you aren't showing me anything.

I never said you were wrong ......  in fact the opposite!
I said quite clearly that I did not disagree with your logic.

I have no idea why you are trying to pick an argument with me, but I am not playing.

This really wasn't my intent - I am genuinely sorry if that is the way it seemed  :) I also got the same impression  ???:

Anyway lets put that behind us. Ultimately I thought the video put up was uninformed with little detail on the true realities of efforts to control malaria or how Gates has had a huge impact for the good. I guess I am a bit touchy over the subject, as would anyone who has seen first hand the impact malaria has on so many, and then some mini-celebrity decides to take a cheap shot at someone who as far as I can tell is trying to do something about it by putting his money where his mouth is.

I wonder what Max Keiser has ever done for mankind....

No problem  ;)

I would guess that Max Keiser would suggest he does a public service by informing people of alternate views of events around the world .....  and I would also say at times he does.

My  impression of the video is not connected with malaria as such, but with the suspicion that surrounds the likes of Bill Gates when he gets into bed with corporations whose only reason to exist is to make money.
His own track record in that regard is not great.

Do leopards change their spots?

I sincerely hope something good comes of the efforts .....  but one must also look at the other side of the balance sheet  ;)

I think a healthy distrust is always well... healthy, and I am certainly no fan of M$. I just felt that the video went way further than having a healthy distrust without supporting the position with hard facts. I have also worked in big pharma and while one must always remember that a business is exactly that - a business, it doesn't mean that they are inherently evil. We just need to keep them accountable by exposing their bad practices and bringing pressure on them to change.

I am a big fan of open media so if that is what Max does then good on him. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and assume this wasn't one of his better pieces.=

That is perhaps the heart of the issue. Can someone change? Personally I think so, but it takes time and experience to build back trust.... In my mind a lot of the Gates foundation work has started that process.
