uT6:
I have thought about trying to use the Windows 32-bit version of Adobe Reader via Wine, but--and this may sound trivial, but I put large stock in visual design--the visual appearance of the GUIs of Windows applications in Wine looks uglified (sic)--especially the fonts, which are smallish and pixelated. Dunno if there is a setting tweak that I've overlooked there. . . . And then there is that security vulnerability of AR. . . . Oh, well.
Although I talked earlier about running the 32-bit version of Adobe Reader in VirtualBox, as was suggested to me, I think I'll just live with Okular, for now, though I will be playing around with VB, which I've not used before. I'm starting another thread to query what good things VB can be used for.
