I don't think so, ARM Processor  :-\
I shall pass this way but once;
any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show
let me not defer nor neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

That's correct. Unfortunately PCLinuxOS will NOT run but other distros will...

Cheers.

As these little devices become more powerful and PC-like, it becomes an interesting prospect.  :-\

No.

But it should be noted that the Pi is really not suited to running a 'full' OS.
The Model B is limited and the Model A even more so.

It is very suited to use as a media centre front end .......  stream files from a backend server and push them out to a display (TV) over HDMI.
It won't handle mpeg-2 files unless a codec licence is purchased ... it does handle mpeg-4 OK.

There is a version of wheezy for the Pi ....  but I honestly found it frustrating .....  maybe more familiarity with that distro family would have helped ......

Openelec with XBMC runs very well on it.
It cannot do any 'heavy lifting' though.

It will easily stream and display video in 1080 res, provided the video format is acceptable.

I had a brief look at the educational end of it ......  and although initially I was somewhat impressed, I suspect it would become a little frustrating after some time.

I think it is too underpowered for interactive use .....  particularly by kids who are very used to high powered (relative to the Pi) phones these days.

To my way of thinking it is very suitable as a front end for various uses such as streaming video/liveTV/audio/webcam or security cam etc etc.

On the other hand it is a great toy .... and knowing its limitations it is well worth the cost for playing with, or to set up as a dedicated front end.

Remember ....  the cost of the board does not include a PSU or storage card (need a fast card) for the OS and settings data, nor a case which would be needed in a lot of situations.

For about twice the finished cost one could buy a mini PC which would be many times as powerful as the Pi and much more flexible.

... just one opinion ...  ;)

Whoever think the PI can make a decent computer is fooling himself, people went over it for the price without considering the specs.

I know my son and his friends could be happy to put their hands in one of them to control the devices they make for school (mechatronics bachillerato level), currently they have a project for a low cost machine to collect PET and pack it tightly that can be put in schools and offices, and a circuit designed for that purpose is enough.

The Arduino found its way to a Wiimote controlled arm, I would like to see what they do with a PI  :)  that thing has better possibilities, my son talked something about a display with advertisements, sound fine to me, better if it makes money  ;D

I agree with that 100%, the hard float versions of the various distros are a better bet than the original wheezy, but it's still very underpowered for use as anything but a video streaming device.

Having said that, it does 720p better than a TF101 with Tegra2 :(

Even the "B" version doesn't really have enough memory to do truly useful stuff with it.

I've got one that I played with for a while, but it's in a box in the cupboard now.  :-[
