Hi to all,
Very interesting replies.
However, I do not yet know what machine I will be getting.
The things I would like to know are::--
1. ..Will it be possible to boot PCLinuxos, on a dvd? -Probably not.
2... If not, do you think I could boot a usb device and install from there? onto a usb drive? again probably not.
3... If not possible to boot a usb device or dvd, how could I install anything on the new machine? Unless the supplier will allow me to into the bios to see it it is able to disable the secure boot and UEFI??????, again probably not.
4....I have not seen any machines of similar ilk to the my current, that has win7 on it, everything now has win8.
5... I am in OZ so I think that may be a problem!!!
Many thanks for your replies.

"1. ..Will it be possible to boot PCLinuxos, on a dvd? -Probably not."

why not?  only for uefi?  you need to see first if you can get into the bios and see how is setup, if it has a password(not that common) you can wipe it by removing the batter and that can sometimes be done without voiding any warranty

we are speculating and you are getting ready for the worst, first things first, get the machine and then prepare a liveusb to do tests

Not to disagree too strenuously, but I'd do my research before purchase if I were you.  The time spent finding stuff out on the front end will save trouble on the back end.  Instead of dreading what might not work, run find out what does.

Maybe I mistook your meaning, µT6, but I would definitely resist that impulse to tinker unless the system won't be used for any productive purpose, and, if that's the case, why buy it at all?
