Well, I picked up the 8-inch skillet.  It's been seasoned and is now cooling down in the oven.:)

I'll give it a try as a bacon press tomorrow morning.:)  if it works, then great!  If not, I haven't lost anything.:)  I've gained a nice new cast iron skillet!:)

Good for you Mark.

I would still like to know why you want to "press" your bacon? I7

Personally, I have never done it.

Pressing bacon, from what I understand, keeps it from curling up.

I've been doing some web research on cooking bacon.  Medium heat, cast iron skillet, bacon press, etc.  Sees to be the formula.:-)

I am going to have to try it out. I have seen it done but never thought about doing it myself. ;)

Oh, my!  The BEST bacon I've ever made!   Wow!  :)  Cooking slowly on a medium heat AND using the 8-inch skillet as a bacon press made all the difference!

We're talking about 20-25 minutes to make the bacon.  Start off in a cold pan.  Line your bacon in the pan (I'm using a 12-inch cast iron skillet).   Place the 8-inch skillet on top.  St the burner to medium and cook ten minutes. After ten minutes, if bacon does not stick, flip.  Replace bacon press (you can move it around a bit).  Cook another ten minutes.  No, remove bacon press.  The bacon strips will be nice and flat and easy to manage in the pan.  Continue to cook until nicely golden.  Remove, enjoy, and save that bacon grease!  Mine is in a mason jar in the fridge.:)

You cook it slowly.  Medium heat.  Maybe even a little less.  Save the bacon grease!:)  Store it in the fridge and the next time you need to grease the cast iron skillet, you have some.:)  Not a lot, just a littl will do ya, I've found.:)

Don't rush the bacon.:)  Part of my new sig, I think.:)

That grease is gold! Almost ANY recipe that calls for butter or vegetable oil you can substitute that bacon grease.

POPCORN? are you kidding me? LOL

Also includes biscuits, cornbread gravies the list is endless. You get the idea.
