Well, I have an RPM for Steam for PCLinux, but we need a tool-chain update before it can run properly,

cheers,

Yep, Valve released non-Beta public Linux Steam client on 2/14/2013, and Valve set up a "portal" for Linux Steam here: http://steamcommunity.com/linux.
They say this release is aimed at U - Bun- Tu, I'm hoping the smart devs or contributors can find time to roll up sleeves to make Steam run on our favored PCLOS operating system.

Its possible to have the steam client on pclinuxos and i did so in this thread: http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,113360.msg967328.html#msg967328

Other distributions that do not have the same version of glibc does the same thing i did.
.. 3 things are certain in life : death, taxes and software bloat ..
.. tell me something i don't know, something i can use as i struggle to reason with the world around me ..

Yes, I'm sure this can be done, but it's like having an os inside an os - i.e. not pretty - especially for big gaming. I hope that Valve will create a client we can run without much fuss, both for 32 and 64 bit

What I meant was that I'm hopeful the smart PCLOS devs or contributors HERE can find time to roll up sleeves to make Steam client run on PCLOS.  And yes, ideally that would include both 32- and 64-bit PCLOSes.
