I walked into my Kitchen last night and to my horror saw a huge Huntsman Spider on the pull down blind.
The hot weather brings out all types of creepy crawlies. Having done this before I armed myself with my bamboo back scratcher, and a 12" diameter biscuit tin, and lid.
It was a big one, and it was quite late so was a little peeved. Idea was to guide him with the bamboo stick into the biscuit tin, and lid it !
He was to have nothing of that and took off up the wall onto the top of the cupboards, and peeped out at me.
At this point he had the 'upper hand' as they like to jump at you and make their get away. I was waving the back scratcher at him and to my amazement he jumped down onto the range hood above the stove, and was in a prone position inches from me on the stove top.
A gentle move of the stick from behind and he launched himself into the biscuit tin, and I quickly put the lid on.
I had no intention of letting it go when outside and trying to squish the critter, in the dark. It was in a sealed tin, I could have thrown him over the fence, but not such a neighbourly act, so I put the tin in the Recycling rubbish bin.
Then I was feeling, "Oh heck, I better kill him", the thought of it sitting in there for a day till the rubbish is collected was not a nice thought. Anyway I did just leave the tin there, and he's been Recycled.
You get an idea from this Video what a nuisance they are to carch, and they're are very aggressive.
