when a package is still on testing, it means that is not 100% stable yet, problems could arise from that version of driver

testing is a section of the repo that doesn't exist yet for rc1(or at least i can't find it here)

but under normal 32 bit version, you open synaptic/settings/repositories

you select the repo enabled and add the word testing on the sections field and apply, then reload to find new packages, you will find lots of them, but if you don't know how to use them, better just choose the only one you want, install and then remove the word testing again form the sections on the repo enabled

For 32 bit you have to add testing and 64 bit test into section line in synaptic.
Never do a full update with test/testing enabled!!

Where were you last night!!  LOL, I know I should have known.  Last night I read the way to get testing so I could d/l Netflix-Player.  Like a dumb a** I d/l'd everything.  So today I reinstalled 2013.02.  Now I can't remember how to get my cd/dvd drives to play music and videos

The US settings allows only 11  Wifi channels (at least on 54g).
You can set the country settings for more then 11 channels.

JohnW

excuse me, how I do that? In the draknetcenter i hitted configuration ad set wireless regulatory domain to IT. Maybe I have to play around with my router?  ???

OK sorry don't want to abuse your patience, any ansrwer will be very great!!!

The net_appletdisappearance is an annoying little but visible thing that is being repeatedly reported.
Could we please look into it?
Packaging well will cure headaches of many :) But learning to package will cause headaches in many :(

The developers are aware of this but since this is not seen on their machines they have little to go.
Pinoc says wait for KDE 4.10.1 and then report back if this behaviour persists.

i only can replicate the behavior when i restart the router or when i disconnect and reconnect

if the connection changes form ethernet to wireless or the network changes status, the icon disappears

are we going to get 4.10 on rc1 soon?  to test if this is fixed or not on it

I've experienced this problem with net-applet from as far back as I can remember. If you attach to only one wifi, there has never been a problem. But, if you use it to connect to multiple locations, it has often failed to connect, or crashes. Recent improvements have helped, but it still occurs for me (at least 6 months ago). Wicd has made stronger connections, and continues to work without crashing, even when no network is available. I do have a problem with it, though. If my computer starts too fast, sometimes the gui starts before the backend is successfully started. So I have to start wicd as root, then stop and start wicd-gtk. But, it has been worth it on my laptop.

I have also upgraded to 4.10.1 yesterday.

The icon was showing last night before I put the laptop in sleep overnight.

This morning the icon is not there.
