I d/l the 64 bit version and installed it on my Toshiba Satellite L655 laptop.  The laptop was dual booted with win 7 and 32 bit kde PClinuxOS.  I wanted to just replace the 32 bit with the 64 bit.  But I ended up just the 64 bit.  Guess I will leave it that way.  So far two problems.  No sound and no wireless icon in the panel.  When I am connected wired there is a icon there.  But not wireless.  Also b4 with the 32 bit when I clicked on the panel there were a lot of things to install.  Now there are only a couple.  The wireless icon is not one of them.  Need help with these, Please.
Edit
Found the wireless icon.

or jdownloader

good news, i'm up and running, downloading iconset and new cursor

i only had a really weird problem

when booting system said that didn't recognized video settings or something, i set it to 800x600 and it booted to desktop

once in desktop in pcc video i found that system was set to 1024x768 in resolution and display, i set it to 1024x600 in both and problem hasn't happened again

system seems to run abit faster but also seems to use more ram and i'm using swap now too, not a big deal but something to consider for new adopters of 64 bit pclinux

from my personal experience and with this limited hardware on this netbook i think this is doesn't need a rc2, this baby is ready  8)

There a lot unmet deps KDE packages in (old KDE 4.6.5 stuff (kde4) in 64 bit repo.
Maybe needs a clean up or rebuild the packages.
Most of them are plasma/artwork/themes/plasmoids ect...

I hope this is the right place for this report--written on my "Linux machine" in XP!
Here are the computer data:
Mobo: Foxconn G41MXE. CPU: Intel Celeron E3400 @ 2.60GHz. Memory: 8GB. Video Card: GeForce GTX 550 Ti (NVIDIA)
I installed pclos64 from the live dvd. (I had verified the checksum of the dvd after downloading it, and the burner verified the disk.)
while in the LIVE mode, I could not bring up programs.  I suppose i should have quit then, but I didn't. The program installed.
The setup boxes for time and for password were off to the right, and half off the display, so could not really set up properly, but got past this somehow, with a user pw but not root pw.
(It seems to take "root" as a root pw.) The window off the right is a symptom of pclos not properly working with the NVidia card. Obviously, it still doesn't. Previously, with help from a
forum participant, I got the NVidia fixed, but I don't have that fix available, and worse, when I go back to pclos32, I will have the problem again! (I suppose I will have to go back.)
I changed the screen background from a file on the Windows partition which I always use, based on a screen background from pclos 2010.
I attempted to update the system, IAW your instructions.  Snapping on the update icon in the tray did nothing.
I then tried to access the net via Firefox--nothing.  The icon appears on the tray (panel) but nothing happens. Went to a console, and pinged my internet connection--OK.
Tried to bring up Synaptic--nothing. Shutdown the system via the shutdown/restart command in the menu, and when it restarted, the screen was bight gray with curved lines.
Still could not access the internet or make anything else work--could no longer bring up a console, either.

At this point I am having some lesser problems with my other pclos machine, and I am basically reduced to Windows.  (There is an open item on this forum about not having links
work from Thunderbird on that machine--which they did, once.)

Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

Not clear at all about where you are installing. Is this a VM on a Windows installation, or a hard drive installation, parallel to a Windows installation on a different partition?

Did just a check on the livecd and see there's a faulty/broken nvidia 173 (173.14.36-1.pclos2013) package on the livecd.
A workaround  is to use the nouveau driver when this is fixed.
All users with a Geforce FX 5xxx card gonna meet this issue.

How to:

Start konsole/terminal

Root to su
su-> password -> enter

then type: XFdrake
search for a xorg driver
you have to select: nouveau

then reboot your system

There is a fixed nvidia173.14.36-2 in dropbox testing, and should be on the final version.

To answer OldPolack:  This is an installation in parallel to XP--XP is on sda1, and pclos is on sda5 and sda6.
Unless the rest of the package is working, information about the nVidia problem is useless.  I can't get to the internet,
or run any program at all.

Non sequitur:
I'm going to try the 64-bit version on my other desktop machine, where I had pclos64 2012-9(?) installed and working
as much as it did, then.  (It would not print, I remember, I don't know what else.) But that's on a machine where I
usually run Win7, and do not really want to have to boot and reboot.  Anyway, nothing to lose, there.

Good to see a 64bit version has been released. I have to find my blank DVDs and will give it a good to great try on my machine. This system is a 6core AMD phenom II that has 8gigs of Ram and a Nvidia GTS-450 video card(1gig).

This should be a very nice system to test on. Will give a report as soon as possible.

Thank you in advance for thinking of us 64bit users.
