Having come directly from the fire, she's just tasting him, to see if he's done enough to serve. ;D

I ain't no dog expert but I have been around. Dogs do not posses the analytical skills that this story portrays.

I live closer to Charlotte than even Wildman and don't know if the events actually happened. Even if they did, it can't be concluded that the dog understood anything about the situation.

If anything, when a dog encounters trauma and there is a stranger around, it is more likely to associate the two and blame the trauma on the stranger.

If the dog somehow figured out that the fireman was the reason for it's "saved" life I have no doubt that it would have shown gratitude.

But one other thing strikes me a bit suspicious... the dog in the photo does not look pregnant.

We can't see enough of the dog to know for sure but I have seen my share of pregnant dogs. ;D ;D

So he just opened the door and her out. But I can see where she could be appreciative of that.  Some dogs are pretty smart
and some can put two and two together.  I once had a dog when I was a child that just showed up in our yard one day and
stayed. He was a cross breed , nothing special but he and I were very tight. Anyway, that dog learned how to paw at the
back yard faucet until he got it to turn, then he would go to the end of the hose and get a drink of water. My dad would come
home from work and start griping at me for leaving the hose running and I kept telling him I didn't turn it on. Then one day
while I was watching, I saw my dog pawing at it and sure enough, he got it turned on and went and got a drink. Apparently
though, turning it off wasn't something he cared about, because he never learned that little trick.   ;D
