doesn't install by itself?

if not, then you need the windows drivers

in the cd, is there a drivers folder or everything is in a cab or a zip file?

how to install a cd for netgear N600 wireless dual band USB Adapter WNDA3100v2 on PC Linux OS

I am not sure what it is you are trying to do ........  is the Netgear N600 not a router? Install a CD?

I *think* you wish to create a connection between the WNDA3100v2 wireless adapter and your Netgear router .....  is this correct?

Plug in the adapter.

Go to Configure you Computer - Network & Internet - Set up a new network interface   and try creating the connection there.

If the device is recognised you can accept the defaults for the most part.
You will need to enter any password and encryption type you are using.

I am not sure what it is you are trying to do

I think what he is tying to do is install the N600 software by just putting the CD (that came with his router) in his computer and hoping it will auto install like it would for windows.

Hi, OmegaPsiPhi,

Although I don't own this particular Netgear USB WiFi adapter, I've done some Google-foo and I understand why you're asking about the Installation CD. Based on what I read, you don't need it ... However, this adapter has a Broadcom BCM4323 chipset which lacks a native Linux driver, so you will have do some extra work installing ndiswrapper to make the adapter functional.

I'll copy and paste some links below; although all of them are geared towards U*u, the basic principle(s) should be the same in PCLinuxOS. I hope that one or more of these sources will lead you to a solution:

If you get started and run into problems, post back here and hopefully one of the networking gurus can help you out. (I'm not one of them).

Good luck.

Terminology first. The WNDA3100v2 USB adapter does have "N600" as part of its name. So, we are talking about the USB wireless adapter only.

I have a WNDA3100v2 and it was a battle getting it set up. It is a dual-band "N" adapter when used in Windows, but, in PCLinuxOS, it failed to connect to my dual-band/"n" router at anything above "G" frequency and speed, so I have not been using it. To be clear: if the router was set to anything above 54 Mhz it would not connect.

I mentioned that because while you may have better success than I did, you may become frustrated if it won't connect to a router (and my dual-band "N" router was a Netgear product, also using the "N600" name.)

And, if you have a Windows computer available, you can get the drivers off the CD, but those did not work for me. What worked was the driver I mention in the other thread. However, I believe that the "ndis_bcmwl.zip" driver in kalwisti's second link: http://tinyurl.com/7o9arte is the same driver.
The other download on that page is is for Atheros USB adapters, so it's not for the v2. (I think the v1 was called N300 and used the Atheros chip/driver.)

So, here's my previous thoughts on the subject.

I'll add that when I set up the WNDA3100, I was using ndiswrapper-1.55 which had other problems, so, a newer version may work better (or worse.)

New to this so don't quite understand what you mean when you say cab

A cabinet (.cab) file (Windows) is a library of compressed files stored as a single file. Cabinet files are used to organize installation files that are copied to the user's system.
