tv_grab & xmltv
« on: January 29, 2013, 09:51:04 AM »
Is anyone using xmltv/xmltv-gui & tv_grab  to get TV listing from the internet?

I began trying to set this up today but failed at the first hurdle. (see below)

Any pointers would be welcome.

I still fail to get anything except an error from XMLTV.

Anyone know what I might be doing wrong?

I can't explain what you are observing.

Perhaps there is an alternative method of getting the information you want.

Have you tried the tvbrowser package in the repositories?   I think it's
for European TV stations, maybe it can do what you want.   I don't use
it because I'm in the US (where I use titantv.com).

Just a suggestion, I know it doesn't answer the real question..

Thanks for posting, was feeling lonely  ;)

Yes I have tvbrowser installed since yesterday ...  had a brief look last night, but found it very cluttered visually.
Am also going to have a look at freeguide. If suitable we might get it added to the repo.

I think I have some of my problems sorted, with a great deal of help from a friend.

The problem was missing packages, so now at least the commands launch .....  I am not as far as doing anything with them yet  ;D
