Kate and KWrite--again SOLVED.
« on: January 27, 2013, 05:14:36 PM »
I read the previous post from last April, and marked for reinstallation all the Kate and KWrite programs in Synaptic, but no joy.
I had just upgraded the machine--it had been a while, and there were a lot of upgrades. Before that, everything worked.

Here is the error message that comes up:

A KDE text-editor component could not be found. Please check your KDE installation.

There is a KDE4-config in Synaptic, but when I mark that, it says it will uninstall KDE4 legacy, so before I make things worse,
what should I do?

Thanx for any help--doug

After reboot, Kate and KWrite work.  So I guess one needs to reinstall and reboot. Hope this helps someone.
