Need Help With GoogleChat
« on: January 27, 2013, 06:33:03 AM »
OK, according to my Package Manager I have the Googlechat plug-in installed. According to Google's instructional video, if I have the plug-in I should see a link and icon near the bottom of my gmail window "Video And More" which I click on to start a video chat. It's not there. Google also has a link to install the plug-in, but it sends me to a page where I can download a 32 or 64 bit .deb file or a 32 or 64 bit .rpm file, and it says the software will automatically install. It doesn't. Can anyone tell me how I can easily get this going on my PCLOS computer? My browser of choice is Seamonkey, but it doesn't work with Firefox, Konqueror, or Qupzilla either. There's nothing wrong with my webcam. Garden variety WinBook USB cam that works fine with other webcam apps like Kamerka or Cheese.

Thank you for any assistance.

I had never tried it using Seamonkey, so I did the following ......

went to my email addy, and made myself visible, then attempted to make a call ......  only to discover I got the same error message as you.

I then installed the google-talkplugin  from the repository.

I went back to Seamonkey, refreshed the page, go the same error message, clicked on it, and on the page that came up I selected to 'try it'.

No more error message.

(well there is .....  but it is because I hadn't set up a Microphone  :)
I plugged in a web cam with MIC and the message disappeared.)
