KDE 4.9.5 update
« on: January 27, 2013, 12:41:17 AM »
Just updated my two machines with KDE 4.9.5 (using PASS)
The update was flawless and without a single issue.
It wasn't a major update like the one from 4.8.3 but nevertheless...

I wanted to congratulate our team for their hard work and say a big THANK YOU for keeping this distro alive!

You guys are just great! :)
For the whole world, you are someone.

Do any KDE splash screens other than Horos work now?
Packaging well will cure headaches of many :) But learning to package will cause headaches in many :(

The update was without problems on my laptop.

Testing all updated kde 4.9.5 packages I got 1 broken package:
Unsatisfied dependency: kde-edu-kalzium-4.9.5-1pclos2013@i586 requires libopenbabel.so.3

Looks good!

Tested all KDE  splash screen packages.
Met only 1 broken:
ksplash-theme-pclinuxos-black:
depends on: kdebase4-workspace-core  but it is not installable

You guys have me really envious now - I'm running the x64 version only with KDE 4.8.3 (works like charm  ;)).

No, I will not ask for an ETA  :D

That thing might be fixed soon. I had got it working on my own setup and someone from our regular packaging team seems to have taken it up now.

The problem I asked about was not about broken packages but KDE splash screen not loading at all even when it is installed. This happened after update to KDE 4.9.2 I suppose or thereabouts. Only Horos will be visible and if any other splash screen is selected, there will be no KDE splash at all.

Thanks JohnW. That is good.
Only thing left to see is whether it will be the same with an old profile like mine.

Well, I updated, everything OK, but Soundkonverter was uninstalled and in not reinstallable:

"depends on: kdebase4-workspace-core  but it is not installable"  :'(

I hope this will be fixed.  :(
