[SOLVED]PASS Server - "An error occured verifying upgrade"
« on: January 27, 2013, 07:42:28 AM »
I'm probably being stupid but I (and my wife's laptop too) are getting the -

"An error occured verifying upgrade
this may be caused by held packages
Do NOT update
Check synaptic or try again later"

From Update notifier.

Synaptic shows a list of updateable packages, mostly *KDE4.9.2-1, CYD shows current KDE version as 4.9.2 ???

I update every time notifier shows packages available, so I don't know how this has happened.

(I just discovered that wifey hasn't been updating, so I'm not surprised in her case)

Is there a news notification that I've missed, I notice others are talking about KDE 4.9.5 on another thread, I seem to have missed something somehow ???

EDIT: *Oops, just realised Synaptic is showing the new packages for KDE4.9.5, not 4.9.2  :-[
But still have the Do NOT upgrade message from notifier.

Thanks

"An error occured verifying upgrade
this may be caused by held packages

It is probably caused by a held package:

Quote
The following packages have been kept back
   cryptsetup (1.3.1-2pclos2012 => 1.6.0-1pclos2013)

You can safely do a normal upgrade using Synaptic.  This package will be held back until it's dependency (libcryptsetup4) appears in the repo.
