I can't select audio USB DAC
« on: August 31, 2011, 02:25:44 AM »
Hi friends,

I have recently instaled PCLinuxOS Lxde on my netbook, an ACER Aspiere One 250, and I'm very happy with.

But I'd like listen music from my Fiio E7 Usb DAC. PcLinux detect the hardware, but I can't select the USB DAC from Audio options, doesn't appear.

Why?

Anybody know how select the DAC?

Thanks, and greetings from Sevilla, Spain.

Welcome to PCLinuxOS  :D

I don't know about your hardware, but I use Pulse Audio to select the audio sink I wish to  use.

Synaptic ......   task-pulseaudio  .... to install ....  also check out some threads on the forum

I have a Dell D610 Lattitude laptop. As far as I can tell. The answer is not available. But another distro allows me to use two brands of USB DAC  without any extra effort on my part.I guess I will load this laptop with another distro like I did my PCs. It didn't seem to want to run on the Dell. But PC Linux did. I will try it again.

If you want some help with a question I would advise starting your own thread providing all the relevant details of hardware and problems, as well as OS etc.

There wasn't even a question in your post, just some vague references to an unavailable answer to an unknown question ....  and of course the statement that you will use another distro.

Think of the reader please when you post ....  we do like to understand what you mean  ;)

This is your thread, I take it
http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,114412.0.html

Not being negitively critical, but everyone here is doing this for free, as time allows, from different time zones, with real lives to live...

35 views...and it's only two days old.
I understand it's hard, and frustrating when thing's don't work, but obviously, anybody who might be able to provide a suggestion hasn't read it yet...
 :(

Patience.
As you find out more information, add it to your own thread (it might spark an idea in someone else).
Be complete (hardware specs, both for faulting equipment, and PC in general; software specs - what DE, what ISO did you install from, are you fully updated, did you make any modifications, etc.)

It's not as if nobody wants to help you...it's just that of the people who've read it so far, no one has anything to contribute.

I had not seen that thread ....  but have replied now  ;)

This thread is from 2011 and really not a suitable place for further discussion of this problem, IMO.
