I have headphones connected to the front audio socket, but I don't get any sound.  Rear through the speakers are perfect. vt1705 audio codec

did you checked in kmix the audio levels?  there is a headphones section that could help, also check master and pcm audio levels, check if some options are not enabled or not visible there

Terminal:

Code: [Select]
alsamixer
and check Headphone channel. Use  ← and → keys to scroll and ↑ key to increase the volume. Remember, the label MM below a channel indicates that the channel is muted, and 00 indicates that it is open. To exit press esc.
For further investigation, post back:

Code: [Select]
aplay -l
Code: [Select]
amixer
Code: [Select]
cat /proc/asound/card*/codec* | grep Codec
