Full Monty desktop with old /home
« on: January 18, 2013, 05:58:05 AM »
Hi,
I installed FM on another partition, booted it and played around a bit.
Once I decided to 'move it into production' (as we would say at work),
I mounted my existing /home in fstab. Now I don't get the FM desktops.

I still have the original FullMonty /home/myuserid folder, which I copied
for safekeeping.

What do I need to change or copy from the installation /home directory,
in order to get the FM 'look & feel'?

Thank you,
Shimon

fullmonty is a highly customized desktop, those customizations are stored in the /home it created when you installed it, if you replace the original /home with your old /home made by another kde version, it won't have the fullmonty customizations

if you want to keep only the files stored in the old /home  it is just copy from one to another /home folder

if you need customizations and configs on the old /home, then you could try reinstall fullmonty customizations from synaptic again

i ignore if this can be done now, but it could in the past, maybe someone with more knowledge in fullmonty could explain step by step the process

You could try  kde4-config-fm   which gives the FM experience on new users that are created in the standard KDE install, IIRC.

I haven't tried it for a long time.
