I remember back in the day...
Driving a company truck, and pulling up along-side a guy with a car like this. I asked him what he hadN under the hood (summertime, windows down).
He said that he bought a 426-hemi in the crate for 2500.00 and dropped it in.
Can you imagine that size of engine in that car with a 426..
Yes sir I sure can..enjoyed some of them myself...(mostly GM)
OK... I can still top this........
I friend of mine from way back... Bill Ens (he was a minister's son). Bought a small Chrysler like this. Not too sure on the model. But it was small. It had a 383 that was
seriously modified.
It had a 4-speed standard in it. He actually could lift the front tires off the pave in first
& second gear. He sold it, because it apparently had too much power... HEYYY!.
Another friend... Wes Ens. No relative to the person prior.
Bought a 1956 Pontiac from "Draggin's Rod & Custom" in Saskatoon. It had a 426-rat modified to 546 horses. It had a 4-speed standard transmission in it. At 50-mile-per-hour... he could drop it down to 3rd gear, and loose the back-end, and smoke coming out of the wheel-wells.
He sold it 6 months later. I asked him, why. he said it had too much power. I said, Wes, there is never such a thing as TOO much power....
