(SOLVED)
« on: January 17, 2013, 11:33:05 PM »
I know,, very strange to see a topic "Solved" with no other title but you guys know me. LOL

My mouse pad was slipping and sliding all over the place instead of staying where it is supposed to be.

I had to reposition it or straiten it up every few hours or it found itself twisted and in a location that was uncomfortable.

I glued the sucker down with a few brush strokes of "Contact Cement".

Haven't regretted it.

It's not permanent so no damage done and It holds my mouse pad right where it should be.  ;) ;D ;D

Hmm!  When ever I used contact cement, putting it on two surfaces.  Then putting them together they didn't move.  But also didn't come apart either.

Mouse pad? I haven't used one of those this century... not since I got my first optical mouse in 1998. I thought those things were as dead as...

"Mouse pad? I haven't used one of those this century... not since I got my first optical mouse in 1998. I thought those"

i remember the first optical mouse i used, it required a mouse pad, without it it couldn't move precisely or wouldn't keep the cursor in place, looked like that old windows virus called parkinson(not a joke, it existed)

recent optical mouses can be used on almost every surface, the latest models even can work over a glass

i am using this one

http://store.sony.com/p/VGP-UMS30/S/en/p/VGPUMS30/S

it is a bit small but is meant to be used with laptops but i am using it on the desktop, ok enough but feels better quality than the old microsoft i had to return because it died couple months after i bought it(personal note:  do not buy anything from microsoft, ever)

that logitech trackball, i can't work with one or at least i couldn't the last time i tried

not sure if it is comfortable to use for long periods of time

My mouse pad isn't for the mouse, it's for my desk.

Without one, the finish scratches up real bad.

The first one I bought in 1998 is this one, with back button on the left side, and forward button on the right side.

Still works perfectly, and until two weeks ago, was still in daily use.

My second optical was this one, which also still works perfectly, and something I found dangling from someone's trash can, a long time ago.

Functionally it's the same as the first one, but has both the forward and back buttons on the left side. I prefer the original arrangement, but hey, free is free.  ;D

My latest in this one, bought from Amazon, and delivered 01/05/13;

...which I purchased because it is wireless, and has the same functionality as the Intellimouse, plus has a side scrolling tilt wheel. Note the tiny USB receiver that normally gets left in one of my tower's front USB ports. It also has a storage bay inside the mouse for when not in use, or when transporting to another location.

I've never used a pad with any of these, and haven't scratched anything either.  ;D

Yep, I use a wireless Logitech USB mouse; doesn't have a side scrolling tilt wheel, does have On/Off switch to save the battery. I find my 'mice' collect a little lint after awhile and protect and glide across my wooden desktop. Bought it at the supermarket for $14.95 from memory. I'll  use my leg, or any handy object as a mouse pad if in an awkward situation, like making a Video, and are away from 'puter; like in bed watching a movie.  ;D

I hate to even say this Rudge but you've maybe (being positive) made a bit of a mess of your desktop finish with the glue  :(

If you used regular "contact cement" Rudge, I think removable is questionable.

Don't worry about the finish on your desk Rudge.  The contact has already eaten into that.  8)
