Upgraded to wpa_supplicant 1.0-3 and now wifi doesn't work.
« on: January 17, 2013, 11:33:23 PM »
Network Center sees the connection, but refuses to connect.
NetApplet sees connections, but also refuses to connect.
Wicd... Still doesn't work, keeps saying that I have a "bad password" when trying to connect with WPA. (But it was doing that BEFORE the update.)

Guys... HEYYY! is going on here? Seems like every major update is breaking SOMETHING in the OS.
What commands do I need to do to troubleshoot this thing, because I can't force a previous version.

First of all you need to make sure your installation is fully and completely up to date and there are no packages omitted from the full update.

The wording of the thread title implies that you have selectively updated one or more packages.

No, I went ahead and updated everything. The wpa_supplicant is the only thing I noticed that involved wireless.

TerryN fixed drakx-net for this problem. However, the fixed version may still be in testing.

drakx-net-0.87-13 is in stable now (not testing) but that fixes problem of wireless networks not being listed in the net-applet.  That doesn't seem to be the problem here.
Without knowing (at least) what wireless card, what driver, what messages when trying to connect it is not possible to know what the problem is.

Thank you for the clarification. I knew that there was two problems that people were having when the wpa_supplicant package was updated. But, without reading through all of the threads again, I thought both problems were fixed for most people. I know that I have no more problems with wireless.

AR928X Wireless Network Adapter and it's using a driver of the same name.

The netbook is an Asus Eee PC, model 1000HE. Kinda on the old side by now, but I haven't found any need to replace it as it still does web browsing and LibreOffice.

It can see networks, but it just won't connect. Home network is using WPA, and I know the key is correct.
