Hi!
Lately I started to like very much e17, running bodhilinux and other distros with e17-DE, favourite one at the moment is opensuse with e17-DE.
So today I found an old cd with pclos/e17, rpms are from 10/2010, let this start on my 2nd laptop, am ibmt23, and stuff was very nice, a well looking ambient, mostly black background, based on KDE-Apps, with e17-version 0.16.999 as DE, beautiful!
So I decided to install it on a separate partition, this went well, only had to reinstall grub, no problem.
So first thing after a fresh install is allways looking for updates, "apt-get update && upgrade" said nothing to update.
I looked in synaptic and found all rpms very outdated and went to search and found on pclos-website the news about using only this repo from .nl, so I loaded this and deactivated others.
synaptic then said, it will remove about 300 rpms, keep back some 100 and upgrade only a few.
I accepted, knowing that eg the e17-rpms would be removed, and I did not really expect to have a running system anymore.
So it was, no more booting.
Now my questions:
- is there a way to upgrade from such old stuff? oh really, I liked this, but eg firefox was in version3.6...
- is there a way to maybe run an kde/lxde-mini and install e17 on top
- is there a possibility to get newer e17-stuff from the repo, what I've seen is from end 2011, and e17 is out with finalrelease since end of december
Thank you a lot in advance
Martin
