Can we get some more K3b logs posted this might show a pattern, the verbal descriptions do not get us far.  ;D

Just to reply to the last few questions:

This post was exclusively about KDE 2012.12, but I had seen similar behavior before. I did not get any message about not using DMA, but I really don't know if it is on or off. I tried to play with it after some googling the other day but did not get very far.

I just burned another DVD with almost identical results at 6x. Same scary messages, 1307 of 1351. Passed Mediacheck and works perfectly well. Here's my output, pretty comparable to yours.

A simple thing you could try at this point is to go to the Help menu and run a System Check.  This might point you toward the problem.

This small difference in the two logs was the only thing I noticed when doing a quick visual check.  Nothing startling here.
