Indexing large document
« on: January 13, 2013, 01:20:23 AM »
I have a software copy (PDF) of a large document of multiple chapters.  It has a sort of index, but it is indexed by chapters, not page numbers of the whole document,
and so Adobe can't go to an indexed point by page number. (It is a complete edition of what's known as the Rad Lab Series--just about everything anyone knew about
microwaves in the late 1940s, and it's still valuable.)
Is there some kind of index program that would let me go to the actual page that a particular input word or phrase was found on? Could Recoll do that? If it
would, how would I tell it to index that file?  The file is not stored in the computer, (I have it on CD) but I could copy the CD into the hard drive if necessary.

Thanx for any advice--doug
