A serious cold & flu bug...
« on: January 11, 2013, 10:13:05 AM »
I haven't been at work on Thursday, nor this Friday.

I've a serious bug in my system, & it don't want to leave.  Sweating like crazy, aching head & eyes, blowing the nose every 20 minutes.

So I'm drinking lots of fluids, taking neo-citren, and 222's for the pain.  Then NyQuil's cold&flu come night-time.  But it still seems to hang around.... grrr.

Well, I fairly sure it won't transform itself into my computer, and then the internet.

I've had colds & flus before.  Just not as heavy-duty as this one.  So long as it is gone before Monday is fine with me.

I hope you're feeling better soon Sammy!

I guess now I'm glad I got the flu shot back in the fall.

It's just terrible to have a lingering sickness. I wish you a prompt recovery.

And to state the obvious; get plenty of rest.  :)

A "pleasant" medicine:  (Forget the pils)

Daily

- Sqeeze one citrus and put the juice in a heat resistant glas or large cup.
- Add a double shot of either Whiskey or Cognac (the "pleasant factor")  ;D
- Fill up with hot water
- Taste up with quite some honey
- Stir well

Drink as warm as you can stand.

After a few days you regret the flu is gone and this medicine isn´t needed anymore ...  :D

Get well soon!

I agree with Tex..!  I remember when that H1N1 vaccination came out.  The amount of "side-effects" that came with that.

As much as I don't like what it is doing to me right now, my body will build a defense mechanism towards it.  That is why I don't agree with these jell hand dispensers everywhere.  Our bodies need germs, so it can build a defense system (but let's not go over-board with that).

Much like the "cold-sore" on one's lip.  I have found that the fastest way to get rid of one, is by NOT touching it.  Blistex or whatever else has never worked for me.

When I watch CNN... they show in red, that 47 states (in the USA) are affected by this cold-flu.  Well, their map shows it all along the 49th parallel.  It didn't stop there, it's in many areas of Canada too.  Heck, it is in Alaska.

I'm a diabetic, so I take a Metformin 500mg pill 4 times a day.  I take 1 Olmetec 40mg pill once a day for high blood pressure.  BUT.. I also take 2000iu of vitamin D, & a mull-vitamin for persons 50+.

So I'll just ride it out.  Life will go on.

bicol_willem, I've got one for you , this has worked for me...

Take a 17 to 18 ounce tumbler.  Pour in 1.5 inches of whiskey, empty a package of neo-citren into it, put Goodhost iced-tea into it (according to your taste), & water to fill it, and stir.

Drink that about a half hour before  bedtime, and you will sleep!
