What happened to the rpm-installer?
« on: January 11, 2013, 01:47:32 AM »
Today I wanted to update Google Chrome, when I discovered that I can not do it via the context menu. There were only two options: "RPM-show info" and "SRPM-Installer for building". I use PCLOS 2012.12. Script version 0.6-1pclos2012.

What DE you are using?
The right click menus are still available, this is more a DE problem...

Install    rpmxdgtool
Good advice. But we must find out what happened to the package from the official repository. Chrome 23, I installed with rpm-install.

rpmxdgtool    is in the repository .....  I wouldn't advise installing it otherwise   ;)

It is the package that provides the context menu items.

I understand. Thank you. But what to do with rpm-install? Why it is in the repository in the current state, if there is rpmxdgtool?

Sorry .......  now I understand.

I installed the package and see that the options do not appear as they are supposed to.

I will see if I can find what is wrong ....  later if no one else posts ......

There appeared to be a little mix up when I went to edit the main menu.
There were two entries with the same name .....  rpm-info .....  but with different commands.

There were a couple of entries which were also hidden ......  one of those being rpm-installer.

Unhiding it and saving the changes; then right clicking on a RPM file and selecting 'Other' allowed me to open with rpm-installer and ticking the 'remember' box ensured it was in the right click menu for future use.

I feel sure there must be some reason things were set like this ........  maybe Daniel could comment?

Thanks, but I have bad news. I updated the package from the repository (ver. 0.6-2pclos2013), but the situation has not changed. All this happens in PCLOS KDE 2012.12 minimal.
