Set the phone to connect as a Mass Storage Device and it should be visible in a file manager

Only on my GSM I recieve the message 'Insert Memory Card'
And in the Network Center of PCLINUXOS  he is disappeared?

new versions of android no longer exposes files and folders as a usb device. They use a protocol called "mtp" and hence they have to be accessed using special tools that understand the protocol.

I am not aware of any applications in the reporitory that can handle android devices that uses this protocol but they are out there.Native support will be in kde 4.10

more information can be obtained in the following link: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2011/12/how-to-connect-your-android-ice-cream-sandwich-phone-to-ubuntu-for-file-access

you may need to make a package request on something. I dont think there is a deliberate support for android devices that only use mtp in the repository.

This might help ......  mtpfs  in the repository .....

The following works for me when I plug in my Samsung Galaxy phone but after  the post bymuungwana not certain if this will help but it only takes a minute to check it out,

Config Your Desktop > Hardware > Removable Devices -

Configure automatic mounting of removable storage  media - with the following options

Enable automatic mounting of removable media
Only automatically mount removable media that has been manually mounted before
Mount all removable media at login
Automatically mount removable media when attached

You may want to remove the phone, enable appropriate setting(s) and then restart your desktop and then plug it in again
PCLinuxOS 32bit KDE 4.10.1; kernel-3.4.11-pclos1.bfs & 64bit 3.2.18bfs; NVidia GeForce 8400GS 1GB 310.19 driver

is that a galaxy ace?

if it doesn't mount as a usb device, it is simple to use airdroid

it just requires firefox on the machine and your phone connected to your local wireless network

its the right link but it appears the forum's policy of replacing the name of a specific distro is breaking it,i already looked into this and all links on how to manage android devices that use mtp protocol mention the distro by name and hence it may not be possible to include any links.

you can just google "android" and "mtp" and you will get plenty of results.

some posts online mention "go-mtpfs" to be working most reliably.

what operating system does your phone use? As the thread has shown, different android versions need different ways of accessing files.

you should also be more descriptive in your titles. I initially clicked on the link because i though the thread was about a wireless card, not a phone. Some people who have the same operating system your phone uses may skip the thread leading to missed opportunities from missed comments from those with the same OS but different device.
