I can find entries in PCLINUXOS for the 5100 and 5200 series but not the 5300. The 5200 series drivers didn't seem to work.

Searched this forum for MG5300 and saw no other questions about this.

Googled and found there is a .deb package from canon Ireland but that of course doesn't work.

Thanks.

Is it a PIXMA?
Look here:
 http://support-asia.canon-asia.com/P/search?model=PIXMA+MG5370&menu=download&filter=0&tagname=g_os&g_os=Linux

There are two .rpms
It is not 5320, but 5370. I think it might work.
I have a MP 190 Series and neither I didn't find the apropiate drivers in the repo. So checked the Canon Asia and find the MP 198 but it works well with these I found.
Try it. Maybe will work for you too.

I'm sure it probably is a Pixma. It's not mine, it's a setup I took care of for someone else. He Wrote Canon MG5320 and started to write out Pixma. I'm pretty sure it is.

i'll give your suggestion a go and let you know how it works.

Thanks much,

Tim

Ok, I downloaded it and ran the install.sh file which apparently went well. The (simple?) question I have is, where do I find the driver? I did a mock setup with a local printer and tried to look up the 5300 drivers and still only found the 5100/5200 drivers.

am I looking in the wrong place, or is this a case where my client's setup will find the drivers on its own after detecting his printer (which it did fine!). In either case, I'll be doing the set up by remote via Teamviewer.

Again, thanks!

ran the install.sh   ???

You should use the .rpm drivers available imo.  These install with the rpm command.

There are two .rpm drivers. You have to download only these two.

Did it just now. Generally, when other instructions are lacking, I just run the install.sh file.  But I just ran the rpm command. Got a failed dependencies result. Not sure what all I need to get from the repository. Do a search for
C++?:

That seems all (Canon) scangear related. You don´t need that as there is scanner software available in PCLinuxOS. Concentrate on the drivers for printer and scanner. The rest Xsane can take care of. Maybe a few others as well. Like scanlight, depending on your needs. Install task scanning.
You run a 64bit version?  Don´t think that one is already official. Could cause problems. Make sure the drivers downloaded match.

I have a canon mx340 which I downloaded the drivers from the Asian canon site and successfully installed on pclos manually over a year ago.  Fast forward to the new iso and upgrading my system the drivers no longer work for the printer. I'm not sure if it is a new kernel thing or what. However, in my attempts to get this printer going, I started trying various drivers that are available in pclinux, and a driver listed for a different model printer in the same series does work. And it is the only one that does.  Just suggesting, don't give up.

Hold on. I just looked at the testing downloads and your 5300 driver is on its way ..... (Its there as soon as these updates goes up and that could be pretty soon)  ;)
