You see there was a post about changing it a while back from kde4 to just kde. It appears that your system is outdated, way out of date.
Oh. There was a post a while back. I don't visit these forums that often.
I do maintenance on my other systems, just not this one since I thought the goal of PCLinuxOS (or maybe it was just my most sincere hope) was delivering a Linux distro for the rest of humanity, the non-techy end-user types who are looking for a sane replacement for u-know-what.
Now that I am thinking about this, I think I've already gone one round on this already. So from now on, I will try to keep my eye on this forum. Thanks for the heads up.
I do not use KDE, although I do have some KDE games. I am wondering why a certain version of KDE would stop the system from booting; it shouldn't under the normal *nix* architecture. What am I forgetting?
I'll try option #1. This is running in a VM, so I'll take a snapshot before trying to apply the changes.
BTW, is there any way of being alerted via an email alert from some listserv? I do check mail frequently.
Thanks for the explanation. I'll try to stay more aware.
