Pulseaudio connection refused
« on: January 05, 2013, 11:09:30 PM »
I have downloaded all the pulseaudio files but when I try to open Pulseaudio volume control it refuses to open with a 'Connection failed'.

pulseaudio -vv gives

This might help

http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,105480.msg922606.html#msg922606

Yes, it did indeed help. ;D
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I finally noticed that a couple of files had been replaced and the replacements did not contain what I expected .......

The files were

/etc/pulse/default.pa
/etc/sysconfig/pulseaudio

There were backup files with .rpmnew  extensions and I used those to replace the two files I thought might be the problem.

default.pa is used to load the modules ......  and when this is empty/missing it seems that a response from some probing will indicate that no modules were loaded.

/etc/sysconfig/pulseaudio   has one active line here

PULSE_SERVER_TYPE=personal

In the problem install the file contained the following

PULSE_SERVER_TYPE=none

I changed both files and rebooted to a working PulseAudio.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I changed the files as you did and that did the trick - and now I too have a working PulseAudio. ;D ;D

Many thanks for your help Just17.
What a great forum this truly is.
