Error message when trying to play music in Audacity
« on: December 31, 2012, 07:05:45 PM »
I'm not sure why, but I can't play music in Audacity. I tried the very song I was able to before, but now all I get is this:

ERROR:

Error while opening sound device. Please check the output device settings and the project sample rate.

I have no idea what brought this on. I don't recall making changes.

Did you upgrade Audacity lately? When I did, I got that error and had to mess with the sound output till I got it to work again.

no. got this going a day or two ago and worked. I had a problem with editing, I think, but otherwise, it was all good.
The only other thing I did was download rezound.

Hi.
Just over the "timeline" on the left-hand side, threre's a combo-box where you choose your output-device... It has some choices of: "OSS", "ALSA" or "PulseAudio" etc...
Try to stop the song playing, then alter this setting and play the song again. If no succes try again  ;)
If still no succes then post again  :)

I just installed Audacity and aubio-audacity-plugin and they pulled in a few dependencies, please see the commit log below.

Commit Log for Tue Jan  1 14:37:36 2013
Installed the following packages:
aubio (0.3.2-5pclos2011)
aubio-audacity-plugin (0.3.2-5pclos2011)
audacity (2.0.2-1pclos2012)
libaubio2 (0.3.2-5pclos2011)
libsoundtouch0 (1.4.0-1pclos2010)
libvamp-plugin-sdk2 (2.2-1pclos2011)

It's working fine after the install.

After changing the settings have you tried closing and reopening Audacity ?

It seems to be working fine again.
This computer or that software is goofy. I did no editing of any kind, and it worked at first, then failed, now it works again. You suppose a reboot or powering on the computer did anything?
