Blue hue to all videos, regardless of browser -- solved
« on: January 01, 2013, 10:11:36 AM »
Any ideas what would cause this? The still image of a video prior to clicking it is normal but when the video starts playing everyone has blue faces. Reds are turned to blues, etc.

It's only in videos, all other graphics are fine. I've looked around but can't seem to find anything to adjust.

there is a couple of posts talking about that problem and nvidia video cards, some solutions too

Thanks to you both!

Bald Brick, the secret lie in the top link. I tried replacing the flash player which was one solution in one link but that didn't do it (although in running synaptic I found that the full update I did the other day left some things broken!)

Here's what was in the top link that fixed it:

  Problem
    Since a few days ago, Flash videos became blue on another distro.

    Solution
    Create the folder “/etc/adobe” and add the following lines to “/etc/adobe/mms.cfg”:

    First create the folder:

    $sudo mkdir /etc/adobe

    Second, create the mms.cfg

    $sudo pico /etc/adobe/mms.cfg

    Third, add these lines:

    EnableLinuxHWVideoDecode=1
    OverrideGPUValidation=true

    Save, then restart Firefox

Again, thanks!

how did you solved?  fixing flash the way you mentioned or also updating driver?

i still don't understand this particular problem, how it affects some nvidia users and other don't

With all due respect, why not try reading reply number 4, posted at 1:14:40?

with all respect, i ask because he mentions part of what i asked

usually most users do this, especially when a avalanche of replies saying that you should have done a search before post

i also don't understand why this problem still happens almost 6 months later, what triggers without destroying the system, a partial update?  a update of kernel?  a driver update or just flash update?

also, i tell you, lets begin the year with a great attitude, or at least lets try to do that

i make lots of questions because i have lots of questions, solved sometimes doesn't mean solved to me, even with this particular case after all this time
