Extended monitor problems
« on: January 26, 2013, 08:02:32 PM »
I can't get my monitor config to save as Default using the "Configure your Desktop - Hardware - Display and Monitor - Size & Orientation - Save as Default" button.
I get it to config ok, but it reverts to clone whenever I log off, or reboot.
I have a Toshiba laptop with a 2nd monitor hooked to the VGA port with LVDS1 as Primary. I have just loaded PCLinuxos 2012-12 with KDE.
I would be willing to attempt this manually if I had some instruction. :-)
TIA Jimmy

i always had to set screen resolution first on pcc(configure your computer) and then in kde control center(configure your desktop) but i never had a extra monitor to configure it

you can edit xorg.conf but i'm not sure how to do it without breaking what you have now

Yes, every thing is working fine until I log out and then it comes back as a clone.

There are a few threads on this subject, you might find something useful in one of them .... using the search function for the forum should show those threads ..... like this one ....

Did that before I posted, also searched Google. Not being a coder I was not looking for a discussion, but an answer. Thank you for the thought tho.
Yes there are tons of variables and questions out there, but none that tell me how to get KDE to save the display config.
The KDE forum is my next move.
TIA
