I recently saw this petition on the "We the People" website (
https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/ ); its intention is to propose the gradual replacement of proprietary software in U.S. schools with open-source alternatives such as GNU/Linux, LibreOffice, Gimp, etc.
http://tinyurl.com/a2syhubYou will first need to create an account in order to sign the petition. (It's painless and only takes a few minutes).
Although I realize that many believe petitions are ineffective and a waste of time, I mention it here in case anyone would like to sign. Hopefully, this might bring the advantages of open-source software to the attention of our elected officials.
Thanks for reading.
