Horror update [solved]
« on: December 25, 2012, 06:18:02 AM »
Hi Guys
I have just updated my system from KDE 4.6x
of course I have lost all my desktop settings and expected to have to
restore them, hoping that there would be a backup of .kde in my home folder
or maybe see RestoreMyKDEdesktop but that does not exist either.

I did do a complete backup of my home folder before starting, however copying
back .kde and .kde4 has not changed the display back to how it was.

I have lost the minimise and close buttons on all programs and most that I open are pinned to the top left corner of the screen.

When Firefox is running I am unable to select any menu item from the top bar nor can i right click and select an item, they just disappear

am I best to download the latest iso and start again or is it salvageable

thanks in advance

pclinux is a rolling release distro

leave it without updates for many months and then apply a enormous update break things

the new isos are released to help in this situations

don't forget to make backups first and then install from the new iso
