Hi,
I have just D/L 2012.12 via a torrent. I have installed it over 2012.08 keeping my backup email.
A...Kmail2 does not find the emails in $.local/share/local-mail.
B...It will not import kmail structures, it fails.
C...Rsyncing the email from the main machine does not help.See 'A'
D...Rebooting after any change. It does not help but does give it a chance as all else fails.

Kmail2 cannot pick up emails either, in the setup you cannot specify the inbox to receive mails.
