Convert saved .ts files to usable format
« on: December 23, 2012, 10:40:35 AM »
I suppose that is an F.Y.I. posting
If you have ever recorded any movies from say satellite TV you may have noticed that they are in
a .ts format and no video player recognizes that format and therefore can't/won't play them .

Here is the solution - just Rename them to .mpeg  ( What Ever Movie.mpeg )
and MPlayer-Multimedia Player  will play them just fine.

VLC also plays them, as does Kaffeine IIRC .......  in fact I don't recall having any difficulty at all with .ts files.

Of course it does depend on what they are recorded with, as I have seen some reports of STBs recording files that cannot be played with other devices - or in a PC.

I suspect the OP is referring to what might happen when using Windows ......
