Definitely read the article. 32 bit Windows will have problems with that drive.

Well, what can I do? I can't install Vista on the external drive because it's 32 bit.

Stupid BIOS doesn't detect my 3TB external drive. I can't find any BIOS updates for the built in motherboard whatsoever. I guess I'm just wasting my time. I am so mad at myself for even trying.

What brand of hard drive is the external, and how did you format it?

OK everyone! I got good news. Apparently, I should've done this ALL along.... I should've just let this Linux distro Studio run on my computer's main hard drive. I don't have much in space, so I might just install with "un-named OS on my computer besides the distro I downloaded" on a better computer. so it's just a matter of when.

Just a must do if using Win(xxx) - Do backup your Master Boot Record.
I've used MBRFix, early on when dual booting Linux with Win and found it worked well.

Very simple to use; just download from a trustwothy source :
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Hard-Disk-Utils/MBRFix.shtml

Run - in Windows; before installing Linux.

Use command in Pic which creates a .dat file in the root of C:\  -  if things go wrong you just delete the Linux partitions from inside of your Win install, and restore it's MBR. For a single Hard Drive, Dual Boot setup, although there are many commands so you may have further options with multi Drive setups.
So important to do this first time when you may be nervous, or unsure, and muck up.
