hp 2200 printer issue: the printing doesn't start

My hp2200 works weirdly. The system recognizes the printer, it puts the document in the printer queue, but the actual printing won't start. 

I did some research, without luck. I'm sure that someone have had this problem, because I've had it for a long time already. Before the trick was simply delete the printer and re-install it. 2 minutes of work.

Now my "trick" doesn't work anymore. Every time I switch printer on I get a notification "printer driver missing"

Now from time to time I just can't print and sometimes yes, that's the weird thing. I can even reboot and the problem remains.

What to do?

Hi juhizz,

Printers are a pain. HP usually work.

Are all the cables plugged in and printer on?

Have you tried Application Launcher > More Applications > Printing > HP Device Manager
(check printer control)

Alternative setups for a printer are;

From a terminal hp-setup from memory, need to be root from memory.

From web browser localhost:631 and as root see it you can set up the printer.

"printer driver missing"

I used to get this message when I plugged in a printer ......  but waiting 30 secs or so apparently allowed the driver set up to complete and all worked fine.

That was using a HP printer, and plugging in to a running OS via USB cable.

Make sure you do not have two instances of the printer installed

my printer is a HP deskjet 2050 all-in-one, and always recognized no matter which Linux distro I use.
am actually on PCLinuxOS LXDE as main distro.
