Ktorrent config [SOLVED]
« on: January 06, 2013, 08:03:24 PM »
okay i was trying to set up Ktorrent so that in 1 folder "Torrents in progress" it would keep all the uncompleted torrents in. and then once their completed move those to the other folder "Completed Torrents to sort" as the below screenshot shows

file:///home/blackadam/Desktop/screen of the top2.png

thinking it would keep my files all organized and easy to sort out and everything when looking for something. and somewhere along the line  this happened

file:///home/blackadam/Desktop/screen of the top3.png

i was aiming to not flood dolphin with all these folders does anyone know how i config ktorrent
so have all the incomplete torrents in 1 folder and then when their done moved to the completed folder so i can sort out at the end if i put in music, movie, etc....

First of all, we can't see your screenshots. You need to upload them to an image hosting site

myphotos.mypclinuxos.com
tinypic.com

Then share your image's link with us so we can all see it :)

Second, if I understand correctly, you want to be able to sort your torrent downloads according to content. Movies should go to a movies folder, music to Music and so on, right? I'm not aware of such a function in Ktorrent. Only thing I know is that the application can move completed downloads to a different folder, like you said.

When you add a new torrent for download, a window pops up with info on that torrent. From that window, you can change the save location and select another folder. You can also choose to save in your default folder and then move it to the folder you specify.
So, if you're downloading music, you could save it to the Music folder right from the beginning.

alls good well basic if you open up the settings tab and where it says application

Folders to store torrent information: /home/blackadam/Torrents in Progress

Default save location: /home/blackadam/Torrents in Progress

Move Completed downloads to: /home/blackadam/Completed Torrents to sort

Copy torrent files to: /home/blackadam/Torrents in Progress

that's how i set it it thinking it keep everything in 2 folders non completed will be in the in progress with all relevant info and once its all done move it to " Completed Torrents to sort" folder

i was looking for something when i opened dolphin to check and i see all the folders/ files that i'm current downloading showing up in my "Home" folder and i thought i set it up that those would be in the "Torrents in Progress" folder

Yes I know about that setting but I thought you wanted to make more detailed folders.
I use Ktorrent that way :)

Remember to not use spaces on your folder or file names under Linux. Use _ or . or - instead of space.
It's a habit that will save you in the future when you will have to use the terminal  ;)

I have no default folder listed, so Ktorrent asks where I want the file downloaded to, which I then designate as the actual directory I want it in. Nothing to move later.
