error: file '/boot/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod' not found
« on: December 20, 2012, 07:27:33 AM »
Trying to install PCLOS 2010 on my Acer 7551.  Booting up gives me this:

error: file '/boot/grub/i386-pc/normal.mod' not found
grub rescue>

Where do I go from here?

I booted to the liveCD to get here.

I did an fdisk in terminal and found this:

In current PCLinuxOS 2012.12 installs the map i386-pc does not exist in /boot/grub/.
I'm not planning to install a 2010 version ;) to check this out.
I think you should install PCLinuxOS 2012.12 to sda6 mountpoint /
Your /home mountpoint connected to sda7 and swap on sda5.

PCLinuxOS downloads on:
http://pclosusers.com/isos/
or the much faster torrent downloads on:
