No wireless connection
« on: December 14, 2012, 11:18:51 PM »
Hi to one and all,

I am running a fully updated 3.2.18-pclos2.pae.bfs with a NetComm Wireless NB604n modem with an Atheros communications inc. AR 928x wireless network adapter (PCI-Express)  on an ASUS PR0 50G series laptop.

The modem works fine in Windows as does the ADSL connection in PcLos.

After two very lenghty telephone calls with my ISP, Internode, one call involved the remote control of my machine by the technician, and much resetting of the modem , I am still unable to obtain a wireless connection. As Internode does not offically support Linux I felt this a step in the right direction.

Clicking on the network button - wireless networks - I am shown my network with the internode wireless modem at full  reception, but am still unable to use the modem for wireless.

In the paperwork that arrived with the modem, Linux is mentioned, but is of no help.

I am awaiting a reply from NetComm Wireless.

I am at a loss as to what to do next. If you can help it would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

sevenjen

Did you apply the fix as given here: http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,111001.15.html

Maybe no need in your case for you SEE the network up in Network center I understand. But it could be your sought solution as it has been for many.

If not rest nearly just one thing: A misconfiguration some where, somehow in PCC Network etc.?

What is that telling you going through the process of setting up a new wireless connection?

Hello,
Is Shorewall set correctly for eth*or wlan* to be permitted?

If there's a harder way to do something I'll probably find it.

Hi again,

The following link from TerryN worked a treat. No hesitation in connecting.

sevenjen,

Congratulations on solving the problem. It would be a good idea to go back to your first post in this thread and add SOLVED into the subject line.

As this is the first time that we have talked, a warm welcome to you, from New Zealand.
