New dual boot instalation

Hi folks a bit of a daft question - I am installing a new hd therefore I am doing a fresh install - dual boot PCLinux KDE/Win 7.  What should I install first.  Previously I have always installed win first.

First of all, there aren't daft questions - only daft answers. I think you would be best to install Windows first as you have always done - into the first partition on the drive. Then, install PCLinuxOS into another partition(s) with grub into the first (Windows) partition. In my setup here, I have three partitions for PCLOS: /, /home and swap. In addition, I have another partition (usually /sda7), which I refer to as /disk. Into that partition goes my Thunderbird 3r45twhatever.default, photos, backups of Bookmarks from Firefox, favourite wallpapers etc. etc.

Then, if I ever have to do a fresh instal, the backup data is still there.

I +1 this.

However, the easy thing to do is, install windows first. Then, when you install PCLinuxOS, just let it do all the defaults.

You will wind up with a duel boot system with no worries about how the partitions are set up.

That is actually what I meant - I just didn't express it correctly. In my defence, I can only say that I was working from memory at the time. Ah well, off to find some new human RAM
