mr-roboto, you need to edit your post to add a comma after assholes because it sounds like you are calling him one & the others listed, not.

like this.......
PCLOS is much more than just software.  PCLOS is also people, tech people who aren't assholes, like Neal, just17, Bald Brick, parnote, and a bunch others I haven't had an opportunity to intaract with yet..

Merry Christmas to you all and to the big family of PCLinuxOS users.
When an issue has been resolved for you, please edit the original post to include <SOLVED> in the title. This provides a good indicator for users with a similar problem to check out the thread.

Sorry, but that sentence needs a complete rewrite. Even with the comma, it still feels odd ;)

I have never found a serious problem with any release of PCLinuxOS. I must be fortunate or just lucky. The lucky part is not true. PCLinuxOS has worked every time because the hard work of the many talented people made it possible. I have not noticed any problems from the beginning to today. It just works every time. I try to not use anything that doesn’t perform as advertised and PCLinuxOS does. Now the “self-locked descending spiral” comment. A few years ago one of my children made a comment that since our youngest child graduated from high school and went off to college “my wife and I had been in a downward spiral.” Let’s see one child out of college and one almost out. The last one was in college. I guess if the fact that we no longer needed a house with six bedrooms or five cars and everything that goes with it is being on a downward spiral, we were. After all the years of hard work my wife and I have a system that works. Just like the PCLinuxOS system does. Sling-shot said “2. Be happy with things as they are - Why worry about what others may say? So there is nothing to worry about.  PERSONALLY, I would rather that we go the 2nd way, listening to people rather than being angry at them.” Update my children have all graduated, have careers they enjoy and all the stuff that goes with it. I never have asked if my wife and I are still considered as being on a downward spiral. I don’t need to ask about PCLinuxOS either.
Merry Christmas to all of the PCLinuxOS family.

I found that article too shallow, very superficial.
And, he said that he liked the 2009 version. What changed from 2009 to now ? Very little. Don't fix if it ain't broken.
And, has worked well for PCLOS.
We have problems, I would say yes. One of the problems is the lack of committed persons with PCLOS.
In my community, I'm the orchestra man. I do everything. Do others care to ask if they can help ? No...
The most I get is a guy complaining in the forum why PCLOS doesn't behave like that other (idiotic) distro (that I will not name)
Good education and politeness tell me to do not tell him to F#$%#$% off, and I try to help the jerk.
And I keep working.
You know, that other distro, derived from Mandriva, is getting the headlines and all the attention these days. I ask: Why ? PCLOS is a better Mandrake that Mandriva never was... But, money talks...
Oh, well...
Peace my friends.

Yes I agree with the above.
I can speak as I have just last week wiped my HD and put on a clean install of 2012.12 after the version with KDE3.  (!)

His comment about formatting during installation is partly correct- I set up on a pre-formatted drive and the ISO CD reformatted anyway without need or instruction.
"Most common users would be seriously troubled at this stage."  I did think 'Huh?' but was not "seriously troubled".
As for "steady decline etc.." I do have a quibble in that after a few days I still have not got my printer working, it was ok in the 2009 version. In all other respects 2012.12 is no worse or better.
KDE4 does take a bit of getting used to after KDE3 (the forum answered a question I had as usual).
Having LO (nicer than OO) installed was a good move.
Mr D. in my opinion felt it was time to be critical but had little to say.

To summarise his conclusions with some of his words quoted:

===========================
Khm-hmmm...

Ladies and Gentlemen!

All is working fine and out of the box with PCLinuxOS.

BUT!
But... the installer... :(
I was warned twice about an eventual "ruining any existing data".
That's not good. That's BAD!

"The steps needed to commit the distro to your hard disks without ruining any existing data are not trivial" for a beginner. Yeah...

And "if you toggle the expert mode, then you will have to manually setup mount points and the filesystems, each time clicking on a different button"! Gosh! >:(

What ended my review of PCLinuxOS 2012.08 is the fact that Oobuntu grubloader couldn't load PCLOS... :(
"Now, you may argue GRUB-GRUB2 combination, another distro being at fault and all that," (like this  ;)) "the simple fact is" this is PCLOS's fault! Sic!
"Now it won't even boot" on me. "Reasons notwithstanding".

So I am sad to conclude, Ladies and Gentlemen: because of these fatal issues PCLinuxOS is a distro you'd best skip.

Cheers.
