W2G - Windows on a flash drive
« on: December 14, 2012, 02:09:14 PM »
I'm surprised Menotu didn't catch this one.

Apparently a way to put W8 on a flash drive similar to PCL
on a flash drive (my favorite)

The security risks of using it are too great to the host computer, so its use will be limited in all but the most secure companies. W2G is interesting, however, from a purely technical point of view: Now Windows-oriented folks can use a complete, familiar operating system, just as Linux renegades have been doing for years.

Security lessening or not.

Just the thought of being able to install a full W8 system
to a standard flash drive, it defies all of Microsoft's
previous policies against it YTD.

And to be able to image that flash drive with a DOS based NTFS
MS ISO imager and recreate it anywhere at will, completely defies MS
attempt to register MS products from doing so, which I think
they should as a commercial product, bad or good.

If MS wants to win, the only thing needed is a quicky backup
program.  This is a one password W2G program who cares type
of program which I don't understand why about certain aspects of it.

But I guess who cares, the consumer is always right, maybe.
