An impulse purchase
« on: December 12, 2012, 06:55:51 PM »
I was on ebay doing some searching when I landed on this item. I thought about it for awhile, then decided to take a chance and buy one. I read some of the feedback and it sounded good. I won't get it for a week or so.

Probably some in-house software. No brand name so I couldn't google it. I may regret the purchase but it has some nice features so I couldn't resist.

I received the player yesterday. It's pretty much what I expected. Kinda cheap feeling and the touch screen is a little funky but it works. I haven't been able to play any videos, it gives a format error message but that's not why I bought it. It shows up in Dolphin and I can transfer mp3's and photos to it easily.

What's funny is, on the back, it says "Designed by Apple Manufactured in China".

it must be asking for a specific file format to play those videos or maybe it ask for a video converted with a specific tool

You may be correct. The paltry "User Manual" mentions a "MP4 transference tool that will be provided for free". The player didn't come with any discs so I searched for converter software for Window$. The manual says the player is a PMP -Slide Panel so I used that in the search. I found a site that had some software that claimed to work for this player. Tried to use it with no luck. I got an error message and the program locked up.

I'm not going to mess with trying to play videos on this. I bought it as an MP3 player so that's good enough for me. It has some extras like a calendar, calculator, camera and video recorder that I may use.

For $28 I guess it was worth it. No telling how long it will work though. vc

I was doing some Googling on this today and found this video. There are a lot of different versions of this type of player. This is the exact player that I bought.

Calendar, cronometer, MP3 player and camera....  looks like something useful for judo tournaments. Maybe it has something to take notes.

How many megapixeles in the camera?

Yes, it has a notepad program with an on-screen keyboard. It's not easy to type since the keys are very small. It does record audio, so it may be easier to take audio notes.

The specs say that the camera is 1.3 MP.

$18.00 to buy it , $10.00 to ship it.

More and more the shipping and "Handling" charges are rivaling the price of the item purchased.

If you notice lately on TV a lot of things say at the end. Buy today and get another one free. Then they mumble just pay "separate" shipping and handling.

The shipping total is more that the cost of the items. When is there going to be  a crackdown on this practice? IT really is out of hand.
