Hello,

If i put a audio ( mp3 ) disc into my dvd drive and start Grip cd ripper, i get a message:

Quote
No disc was detected in the drive. if you have a disc in your drive, please check your CDrom device setting under config > cd

So i went to the config tab and in the cdrom device box i changed it to /dev/sr0 & tried /dev/sr1.

In the Control Center - Local Disks, my settings are:

Mount Point: /media/cdrom
Device: sr0
Name: Atapi iHAS324 A
Type: Auto
Options: umask=0,users,iocharset=utf8,noauto,ro,exec

Mount Point: /media/cdrom
Device: sr1
Name: ASUS DRW-22B1ST
Type: Auto
Options: umask=0,users,iocharset=utf8,noauto,ro,exec.

Is /dev/sr0 or /dev/sr1 the right setting to put in Grip config ?

Hi Derek,

Mine is on /dev/cdrom

Grip has not been refreshed for an eternity, but it is still good. I have always fiddled with the device setting on various machines via grip.
/dev/cdrom works on this machine, but needed to be /dev/dvd on another machine, and /dev/sr0 a few years ago on this machine.

Fiddle with it until it works (make sure a disk is in first)

Phil,

I tried the other dvd drive which is /dev/sr1 and Grip found the cd. Strange how the /dev/sr0 doesn`t work but /dev/sr1 does.

Thanks for your help.

Derek.

Have you tried K3b in Archiving as a CD project.......it finds all the names so you do not have to type them in.
