I have reinstalled 2012.08DVD edition many times on my HP DV7 laptop but kmail2 always gives me problems.
I have had to rsync my mail from a temporary PC, and I have the following problem:

The Email program encountered a fatal error and will terminate now.
The error was:
Failed to fetch the resource collection.
-----
what do I need to do to get the emails, ie get kmail2 to work.

Changed the owner, group and the permissions on the kmail folder.
Now all is working again
