A dull knife would be worse -- you'd be more likely to cut yourself then.
+1
Rudge, I too spend more time than average folks do on my knives.
I have a large collection of mostly folders and some fixed blades.
I have also made a few of my own. They are just not finished unless they are very sharp!
I do not do much with our kitchen knives though, I guess I'm slacking there.lol
Please share.
I have a modest collection myself but I own far fewer than I would like.
Spyderco Delica 4 and a Dragonfly are amongst my possessions.

Well, the company that I would have the most of would be Case, and I am a sucker for Perl and Abalone.
I also love fine tooling and custom knives. As far as a true collector goes, I'm told that one should focus on one concept.
I do not! I stopped counting after 500 knives. These includes anything from miniatures to fantasy knives. I get them as gifts from friends & family, with many having little or no real value to others, but I treasure them all. Do you know who Peter Martin is?
He is a local maker and has been published many times. I have a few of his works as well as some of his raw materials.
I also collect a lot of old knives, a lot through ebay & knife shows. Sorry for the long reply, I think you hit a nerve.lol
